Clementine Street is an independent 200-seat theatre made for live drama at human scale. The room asks for attention rather than volume, and performances unfold with the audience close enough to feel each shift in tone.

Set inside a converted warehouse at the edge of Wāpereki, the building keeps its timber trusses and blackened steel bones. What remains is deliberate and spare: a theatre that trusts writing, actors and silence.

The Building

Before it was a theatre, this address worked as a harbour warehouse: practical, weathered, and built for weight. The conversion kept that character, then shaped it for performance with careful acoustics and a compact rake that holds the room together.

The auditorium seats around 200 people, with blackened steel, exposed timber and soft light doing most of the visual work. There is no ornamental distance between stage and audience, only clear sightlines and materials that carry sound honestly.

Everything here is tuned for live drama rather than spectacle. Actors can read the room; audiences can read the breath between lines. By design, everyone becomes part of the same event.
